British Royal Navy HMS Revenge S-27, SSBN   The last of four Resolution class, Royal Navy`s first ballistic missile submarines, laid down by Cammell Laird, Birkenhead on May 19, 1965; launched on March 15, 1968 and commissioned December 4, 1969.   Fired her first Polaris missile in June 1970 and undertook her first operational patrol the following September. Revenge received her Chevaline, Polaris upgrade, in 1988.   Paid off May 1992 after completing 56 deterrent patrols and laid up at Rosyth.   Back to History Index Image Country Year Description Eynhallow Is.
