Venezuelan Navy`s ARV Picua, S-22

Two GUPPY II convergence submarine were bought from the US at the beginning of the 1970s-Picua S-22 (ex Grenadier SS-525, Tench class) and Cubera S-21 (ex Triburay SS-347, Balao class).

Grenadier SS-525
was laid down by Boston Naval Shipyard, Boston, Mass., on February 8, 1944; launched December 15, 1944 and commissioned on April 4, 1949.She was decommissioned, struck from the navy list and sold to Venezuela on may 15, 1973-renamed Picua.
