US Navy Sargo class submarine

The lead boat of the class was laid down on May 12, 1937, at Electric Boat Co., Groton, CT.; launched, June 6, 1938; commissioned USS Sargo (SS-188), February 7, 1939;

Construction

A total of 10 boats ordered between 1937 and 1938; constructed by the Electric Boat Co. (SS-188 to 190, 194 and 195), Portsmouth Navy Yard, N.H. (SS-191, 192, 196 and 197) and the Mare Island Navy Yard, Vallejo, Calif. (SS-193).
